ibook By the Numbers
A few numbers that define us
WHO WE ARE
A Family-Run Press at Heart
Started as a single press in Edinburgh, iBook has grown into a global home for writers who care about craft. We've never traded our independence for scale — we still read every submission ourselves, and we still answer the phone.
Always on the side of the writer
We advocate for author rights in every contract and protect creative control above all else.
Quality over volume
We publish fewer titles each year so every book gets the attention it deserves.
Honest advice only
We'll only recommend services we genuinely believe will benefit your work.
HOW We work differently
The things we'll never compromise on
We never undercut independent bookshops
Online discounters offer books at rock-bottom prices — but someone always pays for that discount, and it's usually the local bookshop that can't compete. We don't wholesale to discounters
Our returns policy is fair — to everyone
Most publishers allow blanket returns on any unsold stock. It sounds reasonable until you realise it means authors lose royalties on books that were already "sold."
We grow without losing our roots
We have 120 imprints across 15 countries — but we've never let scale become an excuse for sameness. Each imprint has its own editorial team, its own taste, and its own relationship
